Eero and Alexander, who were designing Columbus, Indiana for Irwin Miller, wanted a high-class and durable chair for outdoor seating. The simple, straight line, clean design makes it perfect seating option for both classic modern or hip and modern workplace. The original designs have changed over time. The original painted arms for outdoor environment have gone away and have been replaced by metallic chrome plated steel frame finish. It originally belonged to the Leisure group for a lack of focus on high-class outdoor furniture.

The chair has a wonderful suspension that not only creates an ideal pocket for seating but also conforms to body shape. Suspension was created by elongating a single piece of back seat upholstery tightly between light aluminum ribs. It is ribbed at equal intervals of 1 7/8" for neat and elegant looks. Since its base is a die-cast of aluminum and the ribs are curved aluminum, the chair is light and strong. Most of the original ones are made of 61 percent of recycled material and recyclable up to 88% after their life is over. It has a rolling five pronged base, locking tilt and adjustable height. Leather/pleather cushion and the flexi suspension provides long-term comfort to the person sitting on it. Being a versatile chair, it's easy to move and can be used in multiple spaces.
